The sermons in this series were delivered in consecutive years from 1988 through 1994 (except 1990) as a part of the Trinity Baptist Church Pastors' Conferences. As pastor Martin repeatedly says, the title is not to be understood in the sense of having received a supernatural vision, or a special divine commission from the Head of the Church. Rather, it refers to: "our understanding of the crucial concerns which must be addressed if the church is to know under the blessing of God any true measure of spiritual health and vigor." It refers to what is envisioned for this present ecclesiastical generation as "some of the most critical areas of need for the people of God in our day and in our circles, and what the servants of God in particular ought to do in response to that need."
