Are You For Real? (message #11)
Albert N. Martin

Some recording problems with the first side of this tape should be explained briefly:

The volume of Pastor Martins voice was practically at zero at the beginning of the message, but slowly increased as the sermon progressed. Because of this it is almost impossible to make out the words of the first four minutes & thus they were eliminated. With repeated listenings however it was determined that he read two portions of Scripture:

Matthew 7:13-14:

Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. For narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way, that leads unto life, and few are they that find it.

and
1 John chapter 3:4-9:

Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. And ye know that he (that is, Christ), was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abides in him does not make a practice of sin: whosoever practices sin has not seen him, neither knows him. My little children, let no man lead you astray: he that practices righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that practices sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. To this end was the Son of God manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is begotten of God does not practice sin, because his seed abides in him: and he cannot practice sin, because he is begotten of God.

The MP3 starts after this section of the tape, as pastor Martin begins to pray. The volume has been "flattened out" electronically so that it is fairly even from start to finish, but because of this initial low volume, the amount of background noise and distortion are at their highest levels at the beginning. This progressively decreases as the sermon unfolds however, and by the time the mid-point of side one is reached (approximately) the quality becomes relatively normal, and remains so for the entirely of side two.
